Detail:

On Thursday, August 26, 2010 starting at 6:00 PM, wine lovers and bicycle fans are invited to take a tongue in cheek tour of the wine landscapes of France, Italy and California right here in da burgh. They won’t need virtual reality helmets or goggles…but they will need a sense of fun, a good imagination…and a bicycle…as Dreadnought Wines and Your Active City will join forces for a fun and tasty whirl around the city.

Your Active City is proud to be the newest company to offer fully escorted, guided tours around our celebrated hometown – Pittsburgh.

Their knowledgeable, professional guides bring their own experiences and inside tips on every tour. There’s never been a better way to experience Pittsburgh!

Your Active City tours combine my love of history and Sara Petyk’s years as a tourism professional. She enjoys sharing the inside stories and guiding people through their own hometown.

After living around the world, Sara has come home to share with others where Pittsburgh has been and where we’re going!

Whether walking the streets or biking along the riverfronts, Sara never fails to be amazed by the remarkable natural beauty, the dramatic architecture, and the great people that call Pittsburgh home.

Dreadnought Wines is a Pittsburgh wine distributor, representing boutique wineries from around the world, including a variety of Italian wines. Michael Gonze and Debra Mortillaro, co-owners of Dreadnought Wines and Palate Partners have toured of the remarkable Italian Countryside, as well as France and California, and have plenty of experiences to share with patrons.

Guests will begin their adventure at Dreadnought Wines in the Strip District, at 2013 Penn Avenue, and then depart on their bicycles for an hour and a half trip to Herrs Island and back, stopping several times along the way to enjoy the sites and sensations of the countrysides of various wine countries. Ok, not REALLY, but they will be shown the remarkable similarities between the lands of wine country, and what we have right here in the Burgh, and learn a little Burgh history along the way.

The group will then pedal their way back to Dreadnought Wines in the Strip District to enjoy wines from some of the discussed wine regions, some nibbles from the same regions, hear a few more tales from the actual wine regions, and rest their weary legs.

To be a part of this very special and unusual evening interested people must have a bicycle, and pre-paid reservations of $60 per person are required by calling Dreadnought Wines at (412) 391-8502 or visiting www.dreadnoughtwines.com. Space is limited, so interested parties must RSVP by Friday, August 20th.
